Houston Trip

In February we decided to take a quick trip over to see our friends in Houston. We haven't been there since we moved a year and a half ago. We had such a great time. Our good friends, the Echards, were good enough to put us up for the time we were there. Stephani, John, and the kids were off on Friday and were able to go to Kemah Boardwalk with us. It was a little rainy, but fun as always. The kids had fun on all of the rides there. Brooke has wanted to go on a rollercoaster for years, but has never been tall enough. Go figure. Finally, she was big enough, and Kemah had a new one for us to try out. It was a wooden roller coaster that looked pretty mild. Looks are deceiving. That thing was so compact that it made everything so fast. I swear and had major whiplash afterwards. It was bordering on not a fun coaster at all the way that it was. Because of that, Brooke didn't enjoy it one bit. I don't blame her at all. I felt so bad that her first roller coaster ride turned out to be so torturous. I tried to convince her that most roller coasters are not like that. Hopefully she'll give it another try. Saturday we went to Galveston with Stephani and the kids. John went to Japan on business. The kids wanted to go to the Rain Forest Cafe. Once again, we paid way too much for mediocre food. The kids loved it though. It is a fun environment, I admit. Afterwords, Jeff was kind enough to watch the kids while Stephani and I got pedicures and went to Target. Stephani even treated me! It was soooo enjoyable. It was great to be able to relax and have time without kids. Sunday, we went over to our old ward in Friendswood. It was so great to see everyone there. The ward seemed to have shrunk quite a bit which was very sad to see. BUT, it was great seeing all of our friends that were still there. We had some really good times living there and being in that ward. It was fun to see how much the kids have grown and changed. Those kids are growing up so quickly! After church, my wonderful friend Shelli and family had us to their house for a yummylicious dinner. Shelli and I have kids close to the same age that have been good friends. Her sister, Allison also has a daugher that is Jadyn's age. She was able to make it over with her new hubby Jeff. It was so much fun catching up with them. It seemed as though no time had gone by at all. The funniest was watching these two girls - Regan and Avery. Shelli and I were pregnant with them at the same time and had them just 6 weeks or so apart. They haven't seen eachother since they were around 19 months old. You would never be able to tell. They acted as though they have always been best of friends. It was SO cute. I absolutely loved spending time with them. Overall, we had a great trip. I feel so blessed to have Shelli and Stephani in my life. The two of them have been such wonderful friends to me that have been there for me no matter what I've been through. They are true friends. I love them so much and am grateful to have them in my life.
